Men involved in pub fracas were ‘economical with the truth’ – judge

A MAN who claimed he was hit in the head by a pint glass thrown in a Kiskeam pub, and the man he accused of assaulting him, were both being economical with the truth, according to the judge.

Mallow court heard from Mr Shane Fitzgerald, who claimed that on July 2 last Mr Mark Scannell (24), with an address at Knockanagh, Kiskeam, walked past him in the Why Not bars smoking room only to turn and throw a pint glass at him from some 12 yards.

Mr Fitzgerald said he did not know the defendant prior to the incident, and that the attack was unprovoked. He said that the glass shattered on impact with his head and the subsequent injury required 11 stitches.

‘A lot of excitement’ for Beckham

The moveable feast that is their life inevitably prompts a slew of unusual and awkward requests, one of which landed a few minutes after Beckham, LA Galaxy teammate Landon Donovan and coach Bruce Arena took their seats in a cinder-block room in the bowels of Olympic Stadium.

A reporter from the TVA networks Sucre Sale variety program asked Beckham to autograph a pair of white boxer briefs shed brought along for the occasion, and strode up to the dais brandishing the undergarments and a green marker.

About 3000 tickets have gone on sale this week for the latest
stage musical production by Showbiz Queenstown – The Sound
of Music – and cast and crew could not be more excited.

Excitement Building for Monarch Elementary

That excitement was in evidence on Tuesday when Vaughan Overman, the principal of the new Monarch Elementary School on Five Forks Road in Simpsonville, gave the Greenville County School Board of Trustees an overview of the curriculum.

Prepping family meals builds cooking enjoyment

They eventually settled in Chicago and when Alex was old enough to go to school, his mother lovingly packed his decidedly ethnic lunch into a pail and off he went. Alex remembers eating thinly sliced liver and onions and crepes, but he never did care for the tripe she occasionally made.

When he was just 9, Alex unwittingly became part of what would be one of Chicagos greatest disasters: the Our Lady of Angels fire that killed more than 90 students and three nuns in 1958.

Despite the terrible memories of that time, Alex actually has one pleasant memory that brings us back to our topic of food. After the fire, the surviving students were sent to neighboring schools to finish out the year....
